Hovercraft Racing is a truly unique motorsport, it has often been described as “driving a bar of soap at 70mph with no brakes”. The talk will cover aspects of small hovercraft design and will detail how lift and thrust are delivered and controlled. Composite hull construction and power transmission will also be featured as well as future developments in design for the sport.
Tony Broad is a Senior Lecturer in Engineering at University of Central Lancashire, and is a hovercraft racer.
