Jersey: Wednesday 21st October 7.30pm, Zoom

Travel is a necessity in modern life, however the design, construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure often create difficulties for many people in our society. This lecture seeks to give designers, contractors and others an insight into some of the barriers that make travel difficult or impossible for disabled people, older people and others as well as highlighting how using inclusive design principles ensures investment in transport infrastructure can contribute to a fairer, more equal society. Examples will be discussed using historic infrastructure, new developments and temporary works.

The speaker is Michael Lorimer. Michael is the Secretariat to the Inclusive Mobility & Transport Advisory Committee in Northern Ireland.
