Moving the River Taw: Colleton Mill

Guernsey: Wednesday 13th March 7:30pm, Les Cotils Hotel

Jersey: Thursday 14th March 8:00pm, Pomme D’Or Hotel

In June 2017, WSP was appointed by Network Rail to investigate the imminent collapse of a retaining wall at Colleton Mill, which was precariously supporting a length of the railway line adjacent to an aggressive meander of the River Taw.

Ultimately, a radical approach to permanently move the river was conceived. This would see the Taw diverted back towards a historic meander, observed over 100 years ago.

For Jersey Lectures – the talk will start at 8:00pm (which is free to attend) but is proceeded by an optional dinner, starting at 6:30pm. If you wish to attend the dinner at a cost of £22.50pp bookings can be made via Eventbrite. If you have any dietary requirements, please email chairman.jsy@cigpe.com.
